Program Synopsis
Released by October Films in 65 cities nationwide,
THE TUNE is the first full-length feature film drawn
single-handedly by one person. All 30,000 drawings in
THE TUNE were created by Bill Plympton himself.
The film follows the adventures of Del, a carrot-topped
struggling songwriter who's been given 47 minutes to write
a hit, or he'll lose his job and his sweetheart. Del finds
himself stranded in Flooby Nooby, a strange and magical
town, where he meets an astonishing array of characters:
a psycho-babbling guru, a hip-swiveling canine Elvis
impersonator, dancing maniac surfers, and even a cabbie
who has the hots for his nose. In Flooby Nooby, Del finally
learns how to write songs from the heart, not a rhyming
dictionary.
THE TUNE features ten songs by Maureen McElheron that
each pay homage to different forms of American roots
music -- rockabilly, jazz, country and blues.
